Most people know their age. Far fewer know where they are in the story.

The Map of Remaining Time is a simple visual tool that turns time into something you can actually see. Instead of counting the years behind you, it lays out the years ahead and marks one square in bright red: Today.

When you first zoom out, the effect can be surprisingly powerful. The years already lived form a pattern. By actively remembering and acknowledging past positive experiences, both large and small, you create a form of compound interest for happiness that keeps those memories alive and active.

The years remaining become visible. For perhaps the first time, the future stops feeling infinite. Some people find that confronting. Others find it motivating. Either way, it is difficult to look at the map and not ask a simple question: What am I going to do with the blank spaces that are left?

The map allows you to enter your expected health span and lifespan, creating a personalised timeline that you can save, revisit, or print. It is not a prediction. It is a perspective. A reminder that life is not measured by how much time has passed, but by what we choose to do with the time that remains.

Create your own map and see where you are in the story.

When you arrive, you will see an example map for someone named Sam. Take a moment to zoom out. It helps you appreciate the scale of what has come before today for Sam and how much time she may have left. Once you have had a look, scroll down to the Create Your Own section.

Just plug in your assumed health span, the years you expect to be firing on all cylinders, and your total expected lifespan. The tool will colour your timeline for you and automatically save it for when you return. You can put in as many past moments as you want. You can also download a printable version to keep on your wall.
